write fast

When I first fell into professional blogging it was because my roommate’s dad was getting tired of writing his own blog posts for his law firm. I was between jobs and he knew I had strong writing skills, so he offered me the gig because he wanted to focus on more revenue-producing activities for his business.

I was more than happy to get paid to write, and the first thing I did was take a look at the blog posts he had already written … and I couldn’t make sense of them. Well, I could, but it took me several tries, and if I had been a prospect, I would not have tried more than once. The second I got confused, I would have clicked away to find what I needed somewhere else.

This client was a lawyer, so it’s not like he doesn’t have strong writing skills – but he didn’t have strong blogging skills. There’s a difference, and while he was more than happy to hand the task of blog writing off to me while he focused on helping his clients, other people (like myself) might actually enjoy writing, but they need the skills to take their blogging from ordinary to extraordinary. Or maybe you can’t afford to hire a professional blog writer at the moment, but you can invest in some training so your DIY marketing strategies look professional.

Helping my fellow entrepreneurs write better blog posts is why I started my blogging accountability group back in 2020, but as I provided more tips and tricks and made myself available for questions, I realized it was turning into more of a coaching program.

I will still be doing my live Tip Tuesdays every week, but in addition, I’m in the process of creating a Blogging Strategy Guide within the Facebook group. The guide will be full of videos leading you through my entire content creation strategy: from identifying your target audience to distribution. I’ve also set all the Tip Tuesday videos to never delete, so you can always search and peruse those videos to get tips for optimizing your blog.
